Dr. Joseph Phillip Henley
Dr. Joseph Phillip Henley, 92, of Vermillion, Ohio as well as Green Valley, Arizona died August 18, 2023, at Renaissance Retirement Campus in Olmsted Falls, Ohio. He was born August 25, 1931, in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Joseph and Irene (Simmons) Henley.
A retired vet, he started and also ran Animal Hospital, Inc. in Willoughby Hills from 1960 to 1991 and also proceeded to practice there in semi-retirement up until 2006. Phil was predeceased by his caring friend and friend, Susan Conn as well as his canine friend, “Penny.” Phil enjoyed all pets.
He was a club member of Willoughby Rotary Club, participant of local, state and nationwide veterinary companies, Chagrin Lagoons Yacht Club, Acacia Country Club as well as Mentor Harbor Yacht Club.
Phil was just one of the owners of Animal Emergency Clinic N.E. in Mentor and also offered on its board of supervisors along with those of the Lake County Humane Society, Chagrin Lagoons Yacht Club as well as the United Way of Lake County. Dr. Henley also worked as “show vet present” at all Western Reserve Kennel Club pet reveals for 40 years. He was a dedicated Buckeyes fan, having finished from The Ohio State University in 1956 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine as well as subscription in Alpha Psi, a veterinary professional fraternity.
He delighted in traveling, golf, boating, skiing and various other sports.
