The Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA) and a regional veterinarian are signing up with pressures to send out hundreds of extra pounds of medical supplies and educational material to Ukrainian vets struggling to care for many deserted animals in the war-torn country. In an effort to increase the number of veterinarians in Ukraine, Dr. Mansfield is designing educational programs with Tufts University’s Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine for Ukrainian veterinarians as well as veterinarian students. The dean of Tufts’ veterinary college, Dr. Alastair Cribb, arranged for Dr. Vlad Ushakov, a Ukrainian veterinarian that left Ukraine, to function at the veterinary institution as well as act as an intermediary between Ukrainian vets as well as the International Aid Committee, Dr. Mansfield claimed.
