We are located off of scenic 98 in Miramar Beach in a beautiful white building, next to the Silver Sands Outlet Mall. We are in search for a part-time Veterinary Technician.
Veterinary Technicians are responsible for assisting veterinarians in the care of animals. Vet Techs help vets by restraining animals when necessary, performing treatments and diagnostics, filling medications, updating medical records, and educating clients. They work behind the scenes to keep work areas stocked with with supplies, clean and sterilize instruments, and ensure that equipment is in working order. Vet Techs and assistants may gather medical history information, perform an initial evaluation of a pet’s condition, clean and wrap wounds, check vital statistics, collect samples, and administer medication. The primary duties of the Vet Techs include the following:
Collect and record patient history
Perform routine procedures such as collect blood collection, nail trims, express anal glands, ear swabs, and more
Administer vaccines under direction of the doctor
Enter services and products into patient’s record and computer
Admit and monitor hospital patients
Assist with surgery prep, monitoring, recovery, and cleaning
Monitor hospitalized patients and perform treatments as requested by doctors
Perform laboratory tests and record results
Communicate with clients before, during, and after patient visits
Help keep all areas of the hospital clean and organized
Requirements
2+ years experience with knowledge of veterinary medicine, procedures,correct restraint techniques, and veterinary terminology (preferred)
Ability to work rotating weekends (required)
Must be able to lift 40 lbs
