Veterinarian scarcities taking a toll on animal owners – CBS Baltimore
BALTIMORE– Shortage of vets is taking its toll on family pet owners nationwide-and here in Maryland. WJZ press reporter Nicky Zizaza spoke with a neighborhood veterinarian about why veterinarian services are stretched beyond their restrictions.
Dr. Marianne Bailey of Queenstown Veterinary Hospital says several vets struggle to keep a healthy work-life equilibrium. She also said that COVID-19 increased the need for veterinarians.
“A whole lot of veterinarians are dealing with wear out, they are tired and kind of exhausted, perhaps they are reducing back their hours some”, Bailey said. “It’s most likely been primarily considering that Covid, we have actually seen enhanced need on vets, specifically in our location.”
While Dr. Bailey isn’t required to transform pets away, she confesses’s not unusual– she says she knows it’s a situation playing out at various other techniques.
“Pet proprietors are anticipating premium quality medication for their family pets and also at the same time we’re seeing a rise in visits”, Bailey said.
